hello, i’m patrick edell. i’m a multidisciplinary artist living and working in brooklyn, new york. here is some blah blah blah about myself.
i try not to compartmentalize my art practice, but it’s easier to look at it that way sometimes. my background and education are in illustration, and i have worked as a freelance illustrator for a decade. some of my clients include netflix, facebook, verizon, the new york times, the new yorker, and apple. i still keep up an illustration practice, although it is no longer my primary source of income.
a few years back, i began tattooing out of my house. after a year of practice, i opened up a tattoo shop with some friends and have been a full time tattoo artist ever since (4+ years as of nov 2025). while tattooing is my primary job and main source of income, my tattooing is deeply informed by my illustration background. i see the two as inseparable, and i am very interested in exploring the overlaps in the two practices.
after settling into my tattoo practice, i grew antsy and started painting again. getting back into painting was difficult and time consuming, but it is something i love to do. i keep up a healthy studio practice now, working with oil paint and ceramics. i have no connection to the fine art world, so this is all just for fun now.
